Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences & Research, Balawala, Dehradun (1994-2018) had been a pioneer institution in the field of Biomedical Sciences, not only in Uttarakhand but in the entire Northern Region. The institution has made a consistent effort to improve academic quality since its founding in 1994. The Institute is the result of the vision and foresight of Sardar Gurcharan Singh Ji, the founding director, whose goal was to make this area of the region self-sufficient in higher education. With its impressive staff, driven students, effective administration, and expansive campus spanning over 1.5 lac square feet, SBSPGI has reached the landmark of two magnificent decades.
The state institution Sardar Bhagwan Singh institution in Dehradun has received clearance from the AICTE and PCI. In 2018, the Uttarakhand government officially recognized SBS Dehradun as a university.

Sardar Bhagwan Singh University is situated close to Dehradun in Balawala, Uttarakhand. SBS and the Dehradun rail station are roughly 10 kilometers apart. There are eighteen kilometers separating the SBS institute and the Dehradun airport. There are almost 14 miles separating the SBS campus from the Dehradun bus stop. SBS Dehradun is conveniently located near the airport, bus stop, and train station.
There are various schools at Sardar Bhagwan Singh University, including the School of Life Sciences, the School of Physiotherapy and Allied Health, and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology. Four types of courses are offered by SBS Dehradun across these schools. Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD courses are all offered by SBS.
