About Master of Education (M.ED)

The Master of Education (M.Ed) is a master’s degree program that covers educational research and innovative teaching strategies. The program focuses on a variety of educational topics, such as curriculum, leadership, counseling, and instructional technology. The National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) is the governing organization overseeing the M.ED program. The two-year M.ED program is broken up into four semesters. There are several subjects and specializations available for the course. Candidates may choose to enroll in a normal or remote M.ED program. Following the completion of the M.ED program, candidates have the option of working as headmasters, administrators, counselors, or instructors, among other positions. After completing B.ED a two-year program that prepares students for a job, M.ED is pursued. Master in Education, or M.ED, is the abbreviation for a postgraduate program in education.

Eligibility Criteria for M.ED

Applicants who satisfy the following requirements are eligible for M.ED:

Applicants must graduate with a Bachelor of Education (B.ED) from an accredited college or university.

Candidates must pass B.ED with the minimal percentage necessary by the institution they are applying to (often between 50% and 60%).

Depending on the policies of the institution where they are enrolling, candidates with a B.El.ED (Bachelor of Elementary Education) or BA-B.ED/BSC-BED/M.sc ED (M.sc Education) degree may also be qualified to apply for the course.  Candidates with a postgraduate degree in the social sciences, humanities, or sciences and experience as a teacher and in the state’s board of secondary and senior secondary education or directorate/inspectorate of education may receive extra consideration.
